Designed for young dancers seeking to deepen their technique and artistry, this summer session offers focused training in the renowned Vaganova ballet method. Dancers will build strength, flexibility, and musicality through daily classes that emphasize proper alignment, classical vocabulary, and expressive movement. Ideal for students ready to refine their foundation and grow in a supportive, structured environment.

🩰 Summer Classical Ballet Intensive 2025: The Wizard of Oz
For dancers ages 3–99
Taught in the esteemed Vaganova method by Bolshoi-certified instructors

Program Overview:
This immersive summer program welcomes dancers of all ages and levels to train in the rich tradition of classical ballet through the Vaganova syllabus. With instruction led by Bolshoi-certified faculty, students will develop strong technical foundations, musicality, and expressive artistry. The session culminates in a magical performance of a new, original ballet: The Wizard of Oz, choreographed by, Artistic Director Danielle Balciunas and inspired by L. Frank Baum’s timeless tale.

Program Structure:

💠 Daily Technique Classes

• Vaganova-based classical ballet training tailored to each age group and level

• Focus on alignment, strength, flexibility, and coordination

• Emphasis on proper port de bras, épaulement, and clean classical lines

• Pointe, pre-pointe, and conditioning classes offered where appropriate

💠 Age-Appropriate Group Divisions

• Tiny Twirlers (Ages 3–5): Creative movement, pre-ballet, fairy tale storytelling

• Young Performers (Ages 6–10): Foundational ballet, character dance, musicality

• Developing Dancers (Ages 11–17): Intermediate to advanced Vaganova syllabus

• Adult & Legacy Dancers (Ages 18–99): Open-level classical training, performance integration

💠 Rehearsals & Choreography Lab

• Daily rehearsals of The Wizard of Oz ballet

• Work closely with Danielle Balciunas on character development and narrative movement

• Learn original choreography crafted to reflect each dancer’s abilities and strengths

💠 Special Workshops & Enrichments

• Ballet history & story analysis of The Wizard of Oz

• Improvisation, acting, and expression lessons to support performance quality

💠 Final Performance

• An informal works in progress demonstration of The Wizard of Oz ballet
